Our daughter moves to London for at least a year (provided all goes OK!) this Friday and we shall need to send on several largish packages of personal effects from Carcassonne to Knightsbridge.
No idication whether the reverse direction is offered and I'm rather "doubtful" after reading that personal effects are carried at own risk!
However, we'll follow this up via the help contact as it would work out much cheaper than any other method!

........It all looks easy to use and could be an attractive service but there are some hurdles to overcome.
The site is brand new and, on placing an order from France you will not be able to put in the post code for France and will be rejected!
There is a very clever "Speech driven" help line which has not been working for days but I finally found, and used, an email service which is support@parcelsplease,helpserve.com , address for the attention of Ms Susan Kelly who seems keen on helping us ex pats. Theoretically all orders should be placed in the UK for onward transit to Europe. There is no mention of shipping from France to England and I have not reached that need so far.
Lastly read the terms and conditions carefully as there are some "no go" areas including weight, parcel dimension and contents. And the insurance section would win a prize for the highest number of "get out of trouble" clauses that are inserted.
I have given them a straight forward delivery job to handle, nothing complicated except the French delivery people have to wend their way up the hills to Cassagnes! I'll let you know the outcome. Cost for a 6Kg package is £11,35 with insurance which is £3.50 cheaper than Parcel Post.with no insurance.

Just to let you know that ParcelsPlease have already amended their web page for expats. Dwellers in Europe can now start placing their request for delivery to and from the UK on their front page. Susan at parcelsplease reminds users that they must click on the Blue button so that they know it is a Euro booking.
My parcel weighing 10kg was collected within 15 minutes of my placing the order and I was able to trace it through the Interlink tracking service from the UK and to France where, on time, it was delivered to our house. Cost was £10.00 plus vat.
Just to confirm I have no interest in this company or its associates. Just a satisfied user who would like to thank your contributor who gave the information on the forum on the very day that ParcelPost quoted £38 plus vat with no guarantee of delivery on time!!!
And read their small print !!!

One little problem with the Europe bookings France-UK
Trying to set up one, I choose France as origin and give 11570 as the postal code in France
and E3 4QL as the UK destination postal code (which is the correct one for London in Alizée's new shared flat in Mile End E3 - two letters I sent last Thursday from Cazilhac which went out at 1600 arrived already in her letterbox on friday morning - must be a record!)
Parcels please system tells me "invalid postal code" for both collection and delivery.
I use (guess) LE3 4QL for the delivery postal code and it is accepted
although the correct postal address given by
http://postcode.royalmail.com/portal/rm ... r=postcode
is LONDON E3QL
So I'm not even sure if putting the L in front ensures correct delivery?
No matter which combination I enter for 11570 (F-11570, FR11570, etc.), none are accepted.
Kate, please which post code combination did you use for France delivery??

OK I tried LE3 4QL (with space) and E34QL (all UK postal codes I've ever used have a central space - for example my sister's is TQ2 8ND!) and they are both accepted - which worries me - though I could suppose that E3 could only locate in London and no other large city in the UK???polremy wrote:Maybe try the London postcode without the space in the middle.Just an idea.

E3 would be a London postcode Roger. All postcodes in London define which area they are geographically, ie NW1 is North West, W12 is West London and E3 would be East London etc. Nowhere else works like this.Roger O wrote:OK I tried LE3 4QL (with space) and E34QL (all UK postal codes I've ever used have a central space - for example my sister's is TQ2 8ND!) and they are both accepted - which worries me - though I could suppose that E3 could only locate in London and no other large city in the UK???polremy wrote:Maybe try the London postcode without the space in the middle.Just an idea.

This service is outstanding!
A friend of mine had a parcel sent this week. It left the Midlands at 12h30 on Tuesday and was delivered to Ceret this morning.
As the items were high value, my friend took out an insurance for a further £15.
Total price £26.50.
Excellent service! Long may it continue!!
Thanks for the recommendation montgolfiere!

OK, so this week we used this company again.
Two friends went to England with hand luggage. Bought loads of rubbish, we made an online shop to top up the box.
Box departed friends house in the Midlands on Monday morning.
Parcel received in Ceret this morning.
30 kg parcel = £11.50
(TWO Ryanair checked in luggage = £30)

We placed an order for a parcel to be delivered from England to here.
Order placed Wednesday early morning. (9-ish)
The tracking system says it has arrived at hub 1 - whatever that is.
That was about 18 hours ago.
Since then - nada.
Been making sure one of us was at home all the time just in case.
Was hoping it would have arrived today.
Ah well.
Tomorrow is another day.

Hub 1 will be Birmingham, the main hub point for all Parceline/DPD parcels. From there it will go to the airport to be flown to France and onto Hub 2, eg Toulouse where it will go to Hub 3 the local one for dispatch.
Fingers crossed it'll be with you shortly. My last one said at Birmingham hub but arrived that morning at our depot in Perpignan. It did the other hub in less than an hour lol.

Depends where you are Pole. On Saturdays I would only take stuff out with a Saturday delivery sticker on it. (bloody jobsworth lol)
So if you were on my route it wouldn't be! Maybe you have a driver that likes an easy Monday so gets shot of as much as poss on Saturday

Just to say that we have used this service numerous times over the last few months. In fact, we know longer book bags on with Ryanair. It's cheaper and easier to use Parcels Please. Items are often delivered within 2 days, but it can be up to 4 days.
Similarly to an earlier posting, we have no vested interest in this company whatsoever, but we have found them to be extremely reliable.
