Prospective purchasers should be aware that Testudo Hermanni Hermanni ( the western sub-species) is a protected species and there are legal restrictions on the acquisition and keeping of these fascinating creatures. There is a wild population in the P-O. On the same subject European Pond Turtles are also subject to restrictions. None of these animals can be removed from the wild.
