Horse Mayday
Came across a horse today on a jeep track up near Batere, Vallespir which is in an absolutely pitiful condition. Skin and bone with open sores on its head from biting flies. It’s probanly too weak to move itself to food and water.
It looks like it was once a very handsome animal and may yet still be saved but I don't have the knowledge and resources.
If anyone is able to help it (or put it out of its misery) please PM me and I’ll give you its exact location.
Never made an appeal like this in my life before but this poor thing needs help.

If other options fail, you might try the SPA (Société de Protection des Animaux: roughly equivalent to the RSPCA, but without their legal powers, though no doubt they can call in the gendarmes. I don't know whether they wrangle horses themselves, but they might point you somewhere if they don't. Alternatively, as with anything else in France, ask at the horse's mairie.

The title is Horse Mayday but if was a plane, it would have crashed by now: I sent you a pm on Saturday and still have no reply.
I am willing to go up there with food and water, what I need to desinfect his cuts and a camera to take photos. Then, further action can be taken. I had all weekend but now won't be able to do anything before Wednesday afternoon.
I just hope the lack of answer means that you found another solution

I also sent a pm. Contacted an association who are actually already know about the condition of horses up there and trying to do what they can to save them. They need to know the exact location of this particular horse ( which is probably dead by now any way). So they can document it towards their case.
