Dollar (RTA) at Perpignan airport
Hi Dimidu66,
I have booked hire car with Dollar, the confirmation voucher says that I need to go to the Hertz desk however their location seems to be Off Airport. Presumably this means that we will be taken to their location, can you let me know where it is in location to the airport?
Also are the renovations nearly complete?
Regards
BT

Dollar carhire Perpignan
Tks Dylan.
I know the car park that the car hire companies use. My booking seems to suggest that whilst I am told to go to the Hertz desk I will then be taken elsewhere to collect the car. It may just be that the booking confirmation isn't very clear.
This happened to me once in Girona, it wasn't a problem.

Aer Linfus flights
Dimidu,
Now if you could just convince them to provide a year round service! No Easter flights this year, I am sure there would have been a good demand.

Dimidu,
Have you considered talking to passengers checking in to flights in order to gauge the demand for year round flights from Ireland to Perp?
Also I believe that Ryanair used to operate this route, I presume you have been talking to them as well.

Dear All,
Since Flybe has added extra flights in August 2016 on Southampton-Perpignan service, they have also launched the sales for connecting flights! You will now be able to reach Perpignan via Southampton from Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow Intl. If some of you will be using these connecting flights, we are very interested to hear back from you about the quality & convenience of the service, thank you!
Hi BT,
thanks for your comments & suggestions. No, but it could be something that we will do in order to measure this year round demand.
About Ryanair, they've never served Perpignan-Dublin route, and airports of our size don't have an interest in encouraging frontal competition with 2 different airlines for a same service, which could result (some airports could unfortunately tell as they experienced it...) in a simple closure of both services...

No doubt you'll both be reporting back. I imagine that they will be laying on brass bands and majorettes for you (and damn the overtime rates).Smiley G wrote:I too will be checking Perpignan Airport on Saturday.BT wrote:Hi Dimidu

I have never had any issue arriving at Perpignan, on a number of occasions I have found the departure something of a challenge.
Just checked the Canet webcam, looks like a lovely evening in 66

Hi BT, Hi Smiley G,
Sorry for my late reply, I hope you had a good surprise when checking in at the airport. The arrival terminal is still under renovation (until end of June) but fortunately you were able to see the new check-in area and departure terminal.
Did you have the opportunity to try our new lounge area at the first floor once you have passed the security? There are about 40 seats with a very relaxing atmosphere and view on the runways & apron. You can see a picture of the lounge via this link at the end of the article -> http://flyandgo.fr/aeroport-de-perpigna ... r-cet-ete/

arrivals
Hi Dimidu
Hi Dimitu,
My experience today is for arrivals.
Can't say I noticed much of a difference since September except that the Passport officials have got their act together. There were 2 checking booths manned and an additional officer between them, got through in record time.
The luggage came through the quite quickly. You still have to go outside the get to the Carhire offices, not a bit issue, they are a bit cramped due to Hertz being the flavour of the day, I was dealt with quite quickly.
The roadway outside the arrival / departure area has been upgraded, looks finished.
I will post again following departure on Saturday.
Regards

Perpignan airport
Hi,
Just following up on my last post, I returned to Dublin last Saturday.
The departures area looks very well, I had a good look around and whilst the arrivals area is off limits it looks that it won't be finished for some months yet.
The WiFi is an issue, there are 2 signals, the airport & the coffee shop, it wasn't possible to successfully connect to either.
When I went through security there were 2 areas, the 1st I suspect is for flights within France, there was a machine to buy water bottles. However when I went through Passport control there was no way to purchase water in the 2nd area. There is a retail section however it wasn't in operation. I did see a person being allowed to go back through Passport control to buy a bottle.
Even though it was May it became very close in the departure area air-side, the air- conditioning wasn't in operation.
Anyway I do appreciate that it is a work in progress, I doubt it will be completed by July however September is a possibility.
Regards to all

Perpignan boarding pass
Hi,
Perpignan airport will now accept mobile boarding passes for Aer Lingus flights. I don't know if this applies to all airlines, I would be suprised if it didn't apply to all.

Dear All,
I have good news for some of you. Flybe will extend its Southampton-Perpignan service with 3 additional frequencies, each Saturday from 17th, September to 1st, October. As the flights are on sale since yesterday, you can find now the best prices on Flybe's website!
Dear BT, sorry for my late reply. I'm happy that you've had an improved experience for your departure from Perpignan. For the Wifi, we will increase in the next weeks (less than 2 months normally) the number of wireless terminals allowing more simultaneous connections, and we are currently choosing a solution in order to improve the quality of the network.
You're right, once you have passed security controls, the first area is for domestic flights, and the second is for international flights. The retail section in the international area is now in operation, Trib's has increased its staff for the summer season and they now open for all international flights. Concerning the air-conditioning, I'm happy to confirm that it's now well installed and that it works well.
The arrival terminal should be opened on the 2nd week of July maximum, maybe a bit earlier with a bit of luck. Only the car rentals will stay in their temporary offices until September (difficult for them to move their equipment during the peak season now)
When are you flying back to Perpignan? The Dublin-Perpignan service will operate until October, 2nd with 4 flights/week (and 5 flights/week from May, 28th to September, 4th). I hope that you will have the opportunity to arrive by our new arrival terminal
Best regards to all,
Dimitri

Welcome back Dimidu I thought you had left the airport.
Thanks for the update. I will be arriving on the 9th July and again on the 18th September. No doubt all the builders will be off-site by then.

Sorry but the outside area has not been very well thought out . I was there on Saturday , impossible to stop in the depose minute area as it was full of taxis parked in the spaces provided and any empty space had a taxi driver standing there so we were not allowed to park. If this is for taxis then where is the drop off area?

I found the are leading from the car hire to front of airport very narrow and difficult to negotiate. I thought taxi parking was right in front of the airport and those spaces which seem to be marked out at the totally angle were for dropping off. In my opinion dropping off and picking up is going to be far worse than it was before.

Hi BT, no I'm still working for the airport. Great! you will pass by the new arrival area, the terminal is due to be delivered by end of June.
Hi Tia, Hi Sue,
Sorry for the issues you have encountered. The taxi parking is just in front of the terminal, the "kiss and fly / dépose-minute" area is separated and there was probably some taxis parked here because we haven't put yet in function the new system. This problem will be solved in the next days, you will have 10 min. free and you will have to pay from the 11th minute, it will solve the problem of the taxis parked there when their area is already full in front of the terminal.

We went to Perpignan airport yesterday to collect friends arriving from Stansted. I parked in one of the designated areas at the front of the airport only to be very politely asked to go to the car park as we were waiting an arrival and not dropping someone off. This was our problem we didn't realize the entrance to the car park had been tucked away before you reach the airport. We drove around the front of the airport 3 times (we weren't the only ones) before we spotted the smallest of small signs indicating car parking. May I suggest that 2 large blue P signs are installed prior to the season being in full flow. One placed immediately at the turning to the car park and the other beside the bus parking with an arrow pointing left. Thus if the first sign is missed people will know which direction they have to go. I also witnessed at least 4 cars trying to access the car park at the exit barriers.

Perpignan airport to-day
Hi Dimidu,
Friends departed through Perpigan airport this afternoon, Aer Lingus flight 4:10, they texted that they couldn't buy water from the vending matching after they went through security. From memory there was one in the area for domestic departures when I went through in May. Could they have missed the machine? I am flying on Thursday & will need to be able to course water
Regards

Hi BT,
You have the vending machines before passing the customs' check, but normally Trib's is opened in the international departures lounge.
You also have vending machines at the first floor in the lounge before passing the customs, I invite you to try this new space and give me your feedback! Nice view on the runway, many sockets for your mobile devices and very classy place...
NEWS : I'm delighted to inform you that Ryanair has launched the Summer 2017 sales for Perpignan-Birmingham service which will be extended through the whole summer season (flights Tuesday/Saturday from March, 28th to October, 28th 2017)
