Perpignan airport

Post by Libby »

My step daughter and her son flew out from Perpignan a few days ago and the security people confiscated a pack of goat cheese but allowed a pack of Camembert.
Any one any thoughts as to why the one was allowed through and not the other?
I can only think the officer preferred, or forgot to buy, goats cheese!
This, as you will realise, was in hand luggage.

I vaguely remember reading a couple of years ago that someone flying from France had their "soft" goat cheese confiscated as it was classed as a liquid and it was over 100mls or grams whatever way they determined it.

Goat cheese

Thanks for that.
It was within the weight and one of those tube-shaped cheeses.
I can't see the difference (apart from the obvious!) as to why one should have been banned as, in my opinion, the consistency of the 2 are similar.

I'm wondering if any research has been done regarding the comparative explosive properties of different cheeses.....in particular goat's cheese v camembert. It would make a great project for a Master's in Nutrition Sciences. Folk have Master's degrees in all sorts these days......

Sounds like she was fleeced but it is a very woolly subject. Sorry I may have milked it a little.

Bet he's feeling a bit sheepish now.

What did the French customs officer at Perpignan airport say when he tried to get a grizzly off the plane?
"Camembert!"
