New bus service

Post by Helen »

Mega bus starts a new service tomorrow which includes the option of a twice daily service between Perpignan and Barcelona. There are a number of options heading north too. I did a quick search on a ticket for mid July and was quoted £4.

More info http://www.lindependant.fr/2015/06/01/b ... 038677.php

And, of course, from mega bus.com

I did a search for Perpignan to Barcelona this Friday with a return on the following Monday. I got outbound for £1 and the return for £8 with a travel time of 2 hrs 20 mins.

Driving costs around 40€ each way including tolls and takes around the same time. Then you have to park.

Sounds like a deal huh!

I may disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.

We used Megabus on Monday(. 15th) from Perpignan to Barcelona.

The bus arrived at the bus stop 6am and left on time at 6.20am.
The two drivers on board with helpful and friendly.
No delays and arrived Barcelona 8.45am.

The return journey leaving Barcelona 8.05pm.
The same two drivers still smiling, and again helpful and friendly.
An accident ahead on route held is up for an hour arriving in Perpignan 11.25pm instead of the scheduled 10.25pm.

I'm sure we will use this service often, for day trips and an occasional overnight stay.
We usually take the car, but the cost meant it was something we did infrequently.
For our bus trip we paid 17€ return for both of us.

Hi Karen, great to know that it worked out - and at an attractive price too. The only thing that puts me off is that 6am start!

Did the bus actually start its journey in Perpignan or was it en route from some where northwards?

And whereabouts in Barcelona did you get off?

The departure time of 6.20am was a challenge for us too, as we got up at 4.30am, so a very long but enjoyable day.

The bus starts its journey in Germany for the route to Barcelona.
Estacion Nord is where it stops, which is close to the park and Zoo.
It's a brisk 10 minute walk or 15/20 minute stroll down to Bari Goti ( old part of town).

For us next time we may look at taking the evening bus from Perpignan, staying over and getting the evening bus back the next day.
