Post by Anita & Peter »

I am trying to sell a garage in St Laurent de Cerdans and am looking for advice regarding the most efficient/cost effective way of doing this.

I am interested as I may do this at some point in the future.

I will therefore observe the replies you get with interest.

Another thought on selling a garage: can the garage be signed over to a new owner in any way other than involving a notaire?

I would imagine not. It will need to be registered in the name of the new owner/s at the French equivalent of the Land Registry and taxes (if any) paid.

I only posted the question because I previously had an offer on the garage from a neighbour who said that she was previously an estate agent and that as long as I had the registration documents identified by the cadestral reference, I could sign some document to transfer the garage. This was all in French and thus was possibly misunderstood hence the post.
