Snorkeling

I have been asked to reccommend a place to snorkel (in the Med ) with a bit of wildlife in the water. The snorkellers will be stying in Vernet les Bains. Can anybody suggest anything?

The rocky outcrops south of Argeles , La Roc or something?

There is an underwater trail at Banyuls http://www.anglophone-direct.com/Banyul ... -Peyrefite

I have seen local diving schools taking snorkellers to the far end of Racou beach.

Definitely go with Allan on the underwater trail at Banyuls. Superb, both for expererienced divers and families with children - and very pretty.
Lots of pretty little creeks around Paulilles too - but lots of swimmers and divers too in season.

The right hand side (as you face the sea) of Racou beach is great.

There's a few places South from Banyuls too. These are small river areas which are fun.

If you go on the Banyuls Trail (well worth it) don't forget to wear plastic sandals. Walking on the pebbles is excruciating!

I've never heard of the Banyuls Trail. What I have visited is the Sentier Sous-Marin de Peyrefite situated in the commune of Cerbere.

I am sure there is a postbsomewhere enthusing on an exciting afternoon spent snorkling in th Racou area.
