If anybody has heard from Carole recently via the forum (I know that she is in contact with several people and 'house swaps' over here) please let us know. She has been reported missing https://scontent-a-cdg.xx.fbcdn.net/hph ... 0350_n.jpg

Fingers crossed for a safe return.

I have just seen this from Carol's granddaughter.....just to keep you updated.

Hello, I'm Carol's Granddaughter - Lara. We have made some progress overnight in terms of contacting locals, farmers, mountaineers, aviation groups & local news networks. We are expecting a call from the Missing Abroad charity who are currently liaising with the foreign office and putting pressure on French police to launch an official search. We will keep you updated as we know more.
In the meantime, I have created a poster portraying images of a car that I believe to be very similar to the one Nan owns and was last seen driving. We believe finding the car is going to be key in finding Nan, so please do all that you can to share these posters (French/English) that I have shared to Carol's Facebook page.
Also, having not seen this car in person, I am unsure if this is a completely accurate portrayal of the vehicle, therefore to anyone who has stayed with my Nan, please let me know if this is an accurate (enough) picture.
Thank you all for your kind words and support, I am blown away by the number of generous friends my Nan has. All your efforts have been tremendous and keep us hopeful!

Hi,

I've been directed here from another site which is also covering the disappearance of Carol.

One of the biggest stumbling blocks in cases such as this, is knowing where the missing person has actually gone!
Until the car is located, it is nigh on impossible to initiate an intensive search simply on the grounds of other than seeing her drive off from her home, nobody knows her intended destination, therefore where to start searching.

I hope there is a successful outcome for all concerned, but if you're living in fairly close proximity to Carol, please concentrate on looking out for her car.

Oh boy, not being a techie but a practical person, I know carol has a mobile phone, how easy is it to trace her phone, last call/text etc?
Bon courage.

Carol never put any money into her mobile phone. She said she would buy the minimum amount for the phone but she doesn't use it unless it's required. She cannot use the phone for calling people but normally she can ring the urgence people - this works for the six months that there was a payed account. She posted this previous a few years back. I know a bunch of other people do the same, hoping that somebody will call them.

Didn't she plans to go back to NZ soon. Also, she said she was going diving again too. Of course her mobile won't work far from France.

She was going to NZ December/January apparently.

The following was copied from a forum called Gransnet which she was a member.

"Carol's mobile phone was active whilst she was missing, but is now showing 'call failed.' However, signals from it when it was active may help the search."

It has been suggested that i put together any past posts by Carol, which might shed light on where she goes, what she does, what she's talked of doing....
If anyone has any particular threads in mind or any PMs that might be relevant, please post them here, or contact me, and i will pass any useful info onto her daughter once I find contact details.

This is my latest info..

Quick update, an official search has now been launched by the police, French local news is covering the story. Police say her mobile phone has not been used since 26th October...the day she disappeared.
Please share amongst any French friends in particular who may have links in the Rhone Alpes.

Follow the news about Carol on this forum, on which she seemed to be quite active, and have friends living in the area. They appear to be working very hard to pass on info, keep Carol's disappearance current and in the media. Chapeau to them all. The power of social networking eh? Let's hope that all this hard work pays off and brings a positive result. Thinking of you Carol.

It is very worrying now as it has been over a week, but very strange that the car hasn't been found, so that could be good news, that she is off somewhere, but I am sure she would have let her daughter know....very worrying times for the family.

Now they've found the car, maybe it will lead to her holed up somewhere, out of the cold. She's a resourceful lady. Fingers crossed with yours Deb

My fingers crossed too. Have never met Carol but on here she comes across as a wonderful lady who lives life to the full, doing things most of us only dream about. I so hope she is found safe and well.

So sorry to hear that news. I personally had never met Carol but in some respects through "cyber talking" felt I knew at least part of her. She had done so much in her life and was planning a lot more. So so sad.

So, so sad, like Sue, Carol and I chatted quite a bit about her trips, and her warnings from her daughter about her travels alone, and chatted about our grandchildren...I myself used to say...your no spring chicken so be careful...she used to just shrug that off.. If there was ever a way for Carol to pass away, this is how she would like to go, doing what she loves most, exploring....

I have been told she fell, how true that is I do not know.
