In case this might help anyone....
we took the No. 7 bus from the airport to LA Catalogne; crossed in front of the FNAC building to another bus shelter - Catalogne Brasserie - and took ANY bus going to Gare SNCF. We walked through the station to the bus station (Gare TGV) and caught the Ceret bus at Stand 10 (Only 1 Euro!). We had to wait about 40 minutes and got caught in a violent electrical storm at that point but no matter. At Ceret we got off the bus at the statue of the Toreador and walked the half kilometre into the village.
