Dont know if he's any good, Rob, but some friends of mine use a lad called Noel Dunyach. He's got a little place just behind Carbonells at Alzina Rodona. I know his prices are reasonable and I know he used to work in the Renault garage at Amelie.

Why not give him a call?

Rob we had a timing belt done on the Astra........the water pump had gone and the timing belt had to be moved to fix that, so 2 jobs at once.
This was about 18 months ago and cost 250 euros, we provided our own parts too, which were ordered from UK as they are much cheapper ther, But here is another little tale to go with this.

Our car was made when 2 models changed over so the engines sizes changed and there was a little confusion as to the parts sizes.........sods law says that when it was striped down the belt we had bought was too short............that kit cost 80 quid, when we had to buy another here at route de Thuir that cost 145 euros just for the belt, we could probably ordered another from UK but the car was stripped down on the ramp.

The garage is not too easy to find, our local garage passed us over to him, he is near Le Soler. If you want to ring us, I will send you a pm with our number, Outie will take you up there if you want.

Garage du Tech in the ZI at Ceret, (turn left at Intermarché roundabout and they are on the right) advertise in PO Life and were originally recommended to me.
Don't know about their prices, but they are very pleasant!

PS Very confusing at first Debs   Forgot what date it was!!! Duh!

Just a big rubber band LOL !
It synchronizes all the lateral & rotating components of an internal combustion engine, Serge.
A very vital component of the machine ! :)

Serge
Unless I'm wrong, the timing belt is mostl critical on Diesel engines. Most diesels need a replacement around 80,000 kms. Newer diesels do not need this timing belt changed, since often it's a metal chain.

My older Land Rover needed the belt changed but the newer Discovery doesn't.

I guess if you have a diesel, check the internet and see if you really need this change. It's very expensive. If this belt fails when the engine is running, it can destroy the engine.

Blackduff Serge knows full well what a timing belt is. He could fit one with his eyes shut, he was joking with Rob because no men had replied.

OK. I'll come clean ...................

Rob,
You must be a handy man with a spanner, can you not do it yourself?
As long as the engine doesn't move (turn), it's just a case of one off - one on.

..... sorry BD ..
