Has anyone any suggestions for where to buy good hardwood logs for burning? We're in the Alberes.
Thanks in advance.

At the risk of stating the obvious, it's worth checking how accurately they cut it up. I have a stove designed for 50 cm logs, and it will take up to 53 or so, but about 30% of an average load from the local guys, who are selling it on the side, won't fit. It's a prize faff, but at least I have a chainsaw and some space to play with - up there. Down here, I've not so far needed anything more than the aircon running backwards, and then only briefly.

If I ever wanted more, I would get a pellet stove, but that's no help if you're committed to what you've got.

My stove will take upto 30cm only, some suppliers just cut a 50cm in half and I usually end up with all the a rag ends. Abiven supplies the logs at 30 cm and as yet I've never had one that is too long

Thank you all for the very useful replies. I've gone with Kate's suggestion of Mas Can Tillet. Very nice people, I'll let you know what the logs are like when I receive them in a fortnight.

We always use Bois du Canigou who are also in the Directory. Excellent service and wood.

I must have missed it. Not that I need logs, but other people do.
