Buying and registering a second hand car

When stopped at a traffic island recently, I was cannoned into by a negligent driver and projected into the car in front . Fortunately no one was injured but my beautifully maintained car was a write-off, as I formed the meat in the sandwich! Negotiating the insurance claim and buying a replacement car was a nightmare - insurance companies are tricky customers when one makes a claim as opposed to paying a premium.
Should anyone finds themselves in a similar position I can recommend Susie Hughes' article on this site "Buying a second hand car in France". Very helpful, sound advice on buying and re-registering a car.
