French Land Registry?

Does anyone out there know if there is any system in France to access similar the information to that held by the land registry in England? I am particularly interested in the price paid for property/land about 2 years ago.

I do know that a notaire has access to that sort of detailed information via a computer terminal in his office. Whether this is available via him for a property that you are not either buying or selling,or it can be accessed any other way,I'm not sure
