Post by MonsieurFarfelu »

Hi. We are looking for a house to rent for one year from end September 2014
anywhere between St Cyprien and Banyuls and inland towards Le Boulou. Any of villages in this general area. Will probably relocate to this area but want to spend a year here to make sure it is the right plqce for us!! Have small dog and one cat. Need garden but only 1/2 bedrooms. Budget 400 euros per month

I don't think you will get much of house for only 400 € per month. Look through the Immo agents which rent properties can give you a better idea of what's available in that cost range.

I just asked my wife and she started to chuckle. She agrees that you won't get much for less than 700+€/month. You'll have to pay for the tax d'habitation, including the television tax too.

You haven't mentioned if you want furnished or non-furnished. Furnished will increase the price too.

I hope you find something in that range. Maybe if you try to find a village house which has a garden behind. You'll have to pay the local taxes too plus electricity, water, sewer and garbage collecting. If you want telephone and internet access, this will cost something too.

Maybe you can find someone who needs a house caretaker for a year and it wlll work for you too.

Post again and give us more information of what you need. Lots of people read this forum so give as much "needs" you require. There might a place for the price you want in here.

Good luck.

Thanks for your response. At this stage budget is more important than location as we can travel freely for what we want to see in the area. So if there are places slightly away from all the popular resorts then we will consider. We do not want to be in a main town. Villages are fine and will even extend into the bottom area of the Aude; Would even consider mobile home but not one of the big sites. Happy to see what comes up as we are very flexible and as long as we have somewhere for the animals.

We understand about all taxes etc as have lived in France for eight years andnow want a change of location.

Look forward to further info
