For those of you with holiday accommodation. This is a scam :

We are please to inform you that we will like to use your facilitiy during our stay in your place,please kindly confirm the availiabilty of 2 double room (4 ADULTS) for 10 night only.

Arrival Date: 15th Febuary, 2013
Departure Date: 25th Febuary, 2013
Number of Nights 10Nights.
Send the total cost in Euros of our stay for 10 nights, for our considerations

Please note that an alternative date might be considered.

Not just cheques either. Often these scammers will offer to pay by credit card but ask you to pay a taxi or some other dodgy service on their behalf. Of course the credit card is a stolen one. They know that a lot of holiday homes are run on a non-professional basis.

I get loads stuff like this both for accommodation and for wine.

You can usually spot the scam by the poor English and the address they give.

I expect Jonathan does this routinely with these, but an easy way of checking an address is to key it into Google maps. This one for example shows there isn't a Catord High street or even a Catford High Street and the the postal code although in Catford is for Sycamore Grove.

Daft really. If I were doing a scam I would make sure I used a real false address.
