Habitation for deceased

Post by odit1 »

Hi, hoping someoen can help. Have just had a habitation bill for my mother who died in August 2010. I have inhertited her property from April this year, but don't know why I have had this bill. Should I pay, also includes cahrge for TV licence. She hardly has a TV. Should I write to them.

Thanks

Odette

Hi Odette,
I'm no expert on these matters but it is likely that since you have inherited the property you will be expected to pay the tax d'hab. Worth popping into the Trésor Public nevertheless and seeing if you can find a sympathetic ear.
Best of luck

If you are resident in France (tax compliable etc) and are over 60 years of age you do not pay Taxe D'Habitation, as regards the TV licence !! if you already have a TV licence for your own property then you do not need one for a 2nd property. I am only repeating what i have been told by staff in my local Tresor Public (to fellow forum members who have experience of these places please do not laugh)
