health cover

I had a critical illness in 1996 but got health cover with Generali in 2005 when we came over. They didnt want to know about preconditions. I never have a problem with obtaining payment for treatment and medication. We dont use Generali Argeles but go through Agence Eaton their email address is arradon@agence.generali.fr. They speak and write perfect english.

Do you have a form S1 (used to be E120) from DHSS and are you registered with CPAM for state healthcare?

If so any french insurer should cover you for top-up.

If not you may have problems.

Have a look at these people : http://www.swisslife.com

They are active in France and don't ask too many questions.

5 years ago, having just arrived in France, we needed to find a mutuelle/top up insurance quickly, as there were 2 fairly urgent operations on the horizon. Swisslife were brilliant, took us on, and paid for the ops for pre-existing conditions. We subsequently switched to Generali, Argeles, as they were a bit cheaper, and can't fault them either.

It depends on your situation but remember the rules changed for early retirees back in 2007. So what people did years ago may not be relevant.

See http://www.french-property.com/guides/f ... alth-cover for some useful information.

SOFICAS Health Insurance

Post by XenorpealbinoX »

Hi all!
With our neighbours we were having trouble with CPAM.
Tony MASON from SOFICAS came to visit us with a video presentation of all the French system.
It now seems so easy.
Have a look at the NEW SOFICAS website. www.soficas.fr
When you ask for a quote, ask for Tony he has the answers.
The cover from SOFICAS changes as they are brokers.
We have been with them for 5 years but with two different companies.
