Un petit mot à l’attention de ceux qui sont curieux d’en savoir plus sur la grippe A.

Bonjour à tous,

Ce post (sujet) sera en français car vous vivez tous en France depuis suffisamment longtemps pour le comprendre ; je comprends l’Anglais, alors si vous êtes plus à l’aise, vous pouvez répondre en Anglais, pas de problème !

Il est rare que j’ai honte d’être Française (l’arrogance française n’est pas un mythe, j’en suis le vibrant exemple !). Mais aujourd’hui, je l’avoue ; le Général avait raison en disant « les Français sont des Bœufs ».

Nous voilà entrés dans une ère de pandémie grippale, c’est un fait que personne ne conteste. Dangereuse ou pas, bien malin qui le dira !

Toujours est-il que nous avons à notre disposition, pour la première fois dans l’histoire de l’humanité, un vaccin qui arrive avant la première véritable vague de pandémie et que les Français ont décidé de ne pas utiliser !

Les Anglais vivant en France ont-ils été contaminés par la bêtise ambiante ? Il est vrai que c’est aussi contagieux que la grippe.

Après cette petite digression pseudo-philosophique, j’ouvre donc ce post où vous pouvez poser des questions tant techniques que pratiques - j’imagine que nombre d’entre vous s’interrogent déjà sur les « bons de vaccination » que vous n’avez pas encore reçu (pas d’inquiétude, c’est normal) .

Je tenterai d’y répondre avec autant de clarté que je peux, en fonction des informations dont je dispose ainsi que dans des délais raisonnables, compte tenu de mes autres activités…

That's really helpful. I must say, when I read it , I did wonder about the authenticity of any advice forthcoming.

We have the headteacher off with swine flu and approx 1/3 rd of the children in our school are absent. Each day both staff and children are taken poorly and have to go home. Luckily for me I must have either a good immune system or frighten off any bugs as I am fighting fit and have rarely caught anything that is doing the rounds.

Dans le cadre de la campagne de vaccination contre la grippe A/H1N1, 8 centres sont prévus dans les Pyrénées-Orientales :
Argelès sur Mer : Maison des associations - Espace Waldeck Rousseau - Ancien chemin de Palau
Bompas : Halle des sports - Avenue François Cassagnes - Route de Pia
Céret : Salle de l'Union - 7, Boulevard Lafayette
Estagel : Salle Mandela - 12, Avenue Nicolau
Le Soler : Foyer rural - Rue Guy Moquet
Mont Louis : Salle des Pyrénées - Boulevard Vauban
Perpignan : Salle des festivités - Avenue du Palais des expositions
Prades : Salle Pessebre - Rue San Joa de Porto Rico

Attention : Les heures d'ouverture varient d'un centre à l'autre et d'un jour à l'autre, selon les réquisitions de personnel.
Certains centres acceptent d'orres et déjà les personnes se présentant sans bon de vaccination...
Si certains d'entre vous sont intéressés par les horaires, je tenterai de les dénicher!

Aux plus sceptiques et méfiants d'entre vous : je ne suis sponsorisée par aucune association, ni aucune organisation, ni aucun laboratoire.
Ce topic ne se veut pas polémique ; je propose juste mon aide à une communauté que je fréquente déjà car, si je vivais dans un pays étranger, j'aimerai bien être aidée en cas de pandémie...
De plus, chaque fois que je le pourrai, je joindrai des adresses de sites Internet ; vous pourrez vous y reporter.

I am in the UK max & have been told that the vaccine is available to me tomorrow
I'm not convinced about it, but need to make a decision
Plus i'm not keen on injections, but then i do have a limited pain threshold
So do i go or not, my Anglophone friends

Well according to our acting headmaster he said he has never felt so ill in all his life. He is only 29 and a fit guy. If you are in the priority category then I would consider it very seriously.

I'm going to try to answer you in English ! You'll find few words in French - sure you will understand them.

If it is just a matter of pain, don't worry ! They won't inject you a huge amount of it !

If the english vaccine is the Pandemrix, as it is in France right now :
- The vaccine is 0.5ml ;
- The only thing that it different from usual vaccines is that it is an "émulsion" ; So it has to be injected deep in the muscle (stop thinking about a big needle, it is the same as usual but they have to put it about up to the "seringue").
- You will feel a kind of little ball for 3-4 days in your arm. Talking about pain, that's all.

You ask "So do i go or not" : I can't answer for you, but, as I've told in my first post, up there, no-one knows if it is going to be dangerous or not (this year or another). I know I will go because, "scientifiquement", there is no good reason not to go and I think we have much more to win than to loose. I'll need to be OK and at work when this "influenza wave" will be right on us!

My spoken French is good enough to hold conversations on almost any subject or watch French TV without a problem - even political discussions, etc., but my written French is usually a "semi" disaster!!

Injection was fine, i'm such a wimp
But its tennis tonight, so hopefully things will be ok

You may have some "frissons" tonight and you could be a little tired for 2 days but it is different from 1 person to another.

Est-ce que vous pourriez vérifier s'il faut attendre le bon de vaccination ou est ce qu'on peut aller directement aux centres medicaux?
On est résident en france depuis 2002.

I asked this very question at our pharmacie this morning, and this is the answer: Secu sociale are sending letters to all priority people for vaccination - ie those with certain conditions rendering them more susceptible to H1N1. You can't get vaccinated at one of the vaccination centres that are set up unless you have this letter. Your medecin traitant cannot vaccinate you. Hope this helps.

Je suis retraité avec une histoire de l'asthme. Aussi, quelques amis arrivent bientôt de l'UK qui ont eu, peut-être, contact avec l'H1N1.
Je vais consulter mon médécin tout de suite!

Certains centres de vaccination acceptent les gens qui se présentent sans bon (c'était mon cas hier) ; il faut se renseigner au cas par cas ; c’est le « chef de centre » (ce terme m’amuse beaucoup, ça fait très « sir, yes, sir » des mauvais films de guerre américains) qui décide.

Vous pouvez trouver les horaires d'ouverture des centres de vaccinations (des PO) sur le lien ci dessous :

il faut ensuite cliquer sur :
centres de vaccination dans les Pyrénées-Orientales

Dans tous les cas, il faut se présenter au centre avec sa carte vitale et une pièce d’identité.
On vous remettra un questionnaire : 8 questions environs, du genre :
-êtes vous allergiques aux œufs ou au poulet,
-avez-vous été vacciné contre la grippe saisonnière dans les 3 dernières semaines
-blablablba (je sais, ce n'est pas très scientifique, mais je ne me souviens plus)
Ensuite, vous aurez un entretien avec un médecin qui vérifiera le questionnaire avec vous et pourra répondre à vos questions (in French, please)
Ensuite, une jolie infirmière vous piquera
Enfin, comme on est en France et qu'on aime ça, on vous donnera un beau papier disant que vous avez été vacciné, avec un joli tampon dessus.
RGB, si vous ne comprenez pas tout ça, n'hésitez pas, je le traduirai en Anglais comme je pourrai...

That is right, "your doctor" is not involved (yet) in the vaccination ; you have to go in the "centres de vaccination" for this vaccine.

Je suis allée au centre de Céret. Mais vous pouvez essayer dans le centre le plus proche de chez vous dans un premier temps.

Au sujet des enfants : leur vaccination n'est pas censée commencer avant le 25 novembre.
Il est probable que, si vous vous présentez maintenant, on refuse de les vacciner. En effet, d'après ce que je sais (mais les données changent très rapidement parfois), il est possible que les chefs de centre n'aient pas encore reçu les consignes pour choisir le vaccin, ni les vaccins (cellvapan ?). Cela dépendra sûrement aussi de l'âge des enfants.
