Had my ALD taken away

Post by Pearsonb »

I have been with the RAM since 1982 and have been at 100% for almost all that period, as a diabetic. Today when I went to the pharmacy to get my insulin, she updated my CV and discovered that I was no longer at 100%.

Can anybody explain why this is? I am 66 but haven't taken my pension yet. I am up-to-date with my RSI payments.

ALD is not a permanant thing. It has to be renewed by your doctor every 5 years . I would guess that your doctor has not done the necessary so for the RAM you no longer have diabetes so no ALD ( I know that diabetes lasts a lifetime and does not go away but the computer at the RAM doesn't😉).
I actually was asking this question to my doctor last week as my ALD runs out this year and didnt know whether it renewed automatically or whether the powers above thought I was miraculously cured and didn't need it anymore. Was told that I needed to go to see her 6 months before so she could do the necessary for it to continue.
Good luck😊

I can't imagine how any of us could explain it. But if you are a longstanding insulin user, I can't see how your ALD entitlement could just have stopped if your CV remains valid and you've done everything you should have done. I've always believed that the cock-up theory is the most plausible absent indications to the contrary. So take courage and talk to your caisse.

ALD ..you can have a maladies a vie, but as Lisa said ..the computer doesn't recognise this.
You need to renew the paperwork, normal you receive paperwork informing you off the decision, this has an end date. You need to visit your doctor about 6 months before this expires, armed with a copy of your original application, any specialist/results of exams/specialist appointments.

The good news is that it has been renewed without my having to do anything 😀

I have had a letter from the RSI extending my rights until the end of 2026.
