Shopping next door

Looks like things could get a bit interesting across the border post October 1st. If you are thinking of a shopping trip now might be a good time to do it!

Are you planning to elaborate? Or do we have to guess what you are referring to?

I think he means that Marshall Law will be imposed if the Catalans press ahead with the independence referendum.

I'm amazed that the momentous events taking pace a few kilometers to the south attract almost no comment whatsoever on here. We may be living next to a political volcano which could erupt with devastating consequences.

Surely do we live in interesting times.

At least the Retirada can come by autoroute and TGV next time. But what exactly are we meant to know about South Catalonia which gives us any particular insight? To me, it seems like a rather squalid project for an affluent part of Spain to cut adrift from the poor bits. But then I only ever go to affluent bits of South Catalonia. Elsewhere, it might just be a sort of Brexit vote: vote for anything so long as it shows that you are brassed off.

Or do you really think we should be preparing soup kitchens and dressing stations? You may be right: time will tell.
