I was invited to join some friends for the big event yesterday. This year things were slightly different. The beach front road was blocked at both ends with a heavy lorry to prevent a repeat of the attack at Nice. Through traffic was diverted through a series of narrow back streets. Armed police mingled with the crowd.

Although the weather was perfect it seemed that numbers were down on previous years. My friends also thought that there were more drunks around on Saturday than before.
