Fires near millas

Has anyone news of a huge fire near millas-neffiac?

We can see lots ofsparks similarto lightening, very strongsmell of smoke but not hear a siren since about 17h...aparently just been on news saying that lots of engines are in attendance.

Update.
Col de battaille, direction Estagel, i the wind diection must have changed because the smell is very strong .

Brought under control during the night. Was the largest fire in the P-O this summer

I'm surprised you could smell it. We couldn't in Millas. The smoke cloud was heading west from here.

Watched it from our upstairs window. Flames must have been about 8 m high at one point. There were four Canadairs dropping water on it which seemed to put it out but while they were away refilling it would flare up again.

Russell, I am blind as a bat but can hear a tenner fall to the floor and smell a bottle of wine opening next door :lol:

It seems almost impossible that here in the PO we have the worst fire of the year while, just a few kilometres up the road, there is torrential rain and widespread devastation. Hundreds of homes wiped out, five confirmed deaths and two people missing.
