As has been said previously all the photos are tasteful and in no way pornographic, soft or hard. Go sit on Argeles beach in season and you would see far more of the bodily form. The only thing I find sad is that CSF and others have to produce a calendar to raise funds. I feel there should be more support from governments. Cancer touches everyone at some point in their lives whether it is yourself or a family member and doesn't distinguish between rich and poor.
I don't need telling about cancer as an impact on your life (though of course it does very much distinguish between rich and poor). And I can well believe that cancer support is underfunded: health bureaucracies are not always good at such things. But underfunding is a relative thing: I suspect that the big C gets a better deal, both from the state and the public, than many less glamorous things. Resources are always scarce, and emotion isn't always the best guide.

For the rest, I'm unconvinced. Good ends don't justify dodgy means, and they still seem dodgy to me. People sunbathing at Argelès don't expect a picture of them to be pinned up on my kitchen wall for the next 12 months: if you took it, you could expect to get nicked. And the token man doesn't really help.

I hadn't mentioned that this thread made me stand on my scales for the first time in a while.

There's a big difference between porn and eroticism. Porn can be a woman's leery face sucking a Magnum (ice - not gun!) The most erotic scene in a film I've ever seen shows a couple, married for 10 years and deeply in love. All you see is the wife's nightie slipping off her shoulder and her hair being unpinned. The husband is kissing her face and caressing her naked shoulder (nothing is seen below her shoulder) but the eroticism of that love scene sends shivers down your own back.

Just to go back to the calendar, don't forget that CSF isn't another 'raise funds for cancer research' charity.....it's an association HERE on our doorstep of people who will prop you up when you walk out of the doctors, in shock at a totally unexpected diagnosis,, with no idea where to go or what to do next. They will accompany you to the specialist, to the bank, to the butcher, baker, candlestick maker......whatever you need. They are you and me, they are volunteers who maybe have good French, a soft shoulder, a listening ear, experience of the system......Buying the calendar supports the local group who may one day be there for any one of us - it's personal. Let's hope we will never need them....

Well said Kate. None of us know when we may need them.
