Do any of the french newspapers have an equivalent? I ask because I am watching Sunday Politics, Harriette Harman is demanding page 3 is banned, she says the girls are exploited.

I am indifferent, if the girls have the front( whoops) to do it and earn a good wedge, then good luck to them. The women's institute do a calendar , I feel are that either the female members of the armed forces did a calendar or Army wives.

What about TheAnglophone Direct Calendar ( y comprises les beaux goss) with monies donated to nominated charities....Cancer France, British Legion...?

Much to my daughters embarrassment I am game if someone will help to organise it.

my sister was a page 3 girl, she enjoyed it and still does when she sees photos of herself. Her exboyfriend is a photographer and when we used to go to their house where he did the photos there were often girls posing to try and be on page 3. They were definately not being forced to do it ( hubby always looked at his feet when he was there so think he was more embarressed than them!) Don't think that there is a french version of it though.

So we just need 11 more willing male/ females , a photographer a printer, a make up artist a hairdresser and someone who is experienced in marketing.

Come on , l am not suggesting full frontal in your face poses...subtle is then word.

If this takes off, the site has lost at least one visitor. France infuriates me in many ways, even after many years. But the lack of p3 is not one of them.

Opas is talking tasteful here Martyn, for charity, not a full on faceful of Pom Poms. Talking page 3, in UK, when I was living there only 1 newspaper had one so there were plenty of other papers to purchase. Dont be such a fuddy duddy.

I can read. However tasteful he thinks it is, it isn't tasteful enough for me, and I am really not very demanding. We can all give to charity if we wish, and save the price of the make-up artist, who would have to be exceptionally gifted in my case.

Lighten up the thought was for charity.

How about I get back in the kitchen and bake a cake instead! :P

But France has a different concern about Flesh. It is widely accepted to bathe naked in rivers in France or females to be topless on beaches, but not in the UK. In the UK it is widely accepted for fathers to leer at page 3 over breakfast while telling their daughters to 'dress safely'.

But the 'tease' is famous in France- Moulin Rouge etc.

FWIW I am not against flesh, nudity or calendars - just hypocrisy. :D

Opas....er...thanks, but no thanks. Not at our age! There's only a short time in life to get our kit off.

Page 3 girls, if I remember well, were young, slim and beautiful; I'm only slim and beautiful, so count me out.
Helen :(

I've been pretty much forbidden (or possibly compelled) to comment. The one picture I've seen is tasteful, as these things go, and the sunflowers are pretty. But it does seem a bit sad, AD2015, that an old geezer like me (male, if you were in any doubt) is the only feminist round here. There really is no jokey, or "ironic", way of delivering naked women to the male gaze: it's ultimately all just soft porn. Or great art, once in a blue moon, but this is not that case.

There are, of course much more effective ways of supporting charitable causes than buying cheesy calendars. And in my case, it was a timely reminder.

It's totally harmless fun in my opinion and not to be taken so seriously. I trust it raises good money. I wasn't intending to buy one myself but I will now. I quite like cheese!

No porn here in any shape or form Martyn I promise. All very subtle, tasteful....and for a woman who has lost a breast or a man who has been through the indignity of the various forms of cancer that we all need to be on the lookout for, it is a much needed confidence boost. I don't actually know if all or any of the models have actually had cancer...,but if they have, and they have got back up and gone out there and got their kit off for the camera, all I can say is 'wow'!

I think it's lovely though that your comments are very much in support of ladies. I'm convinced you're a closet big hearted man behind the grumpy exterior. :-)

Incidentally, I don't know much about great art or photography, but the photos don't just focus on the model, but on the whole scene. .....vines, orchards etc

Isn't porn or soft porn , using the body with intent of causing sexual excitement? I doubt very much that any of these models set out to do that.In fact I have seen more show of flesh on a beach.

I hope they sell lots of calendars, raise awareness and it raises a few smiles too!

God save me from ever supporting "laydeez". Women can support themselves, if they can be bothered. I just don't much like sleaze. Even tasteful sleaze, and even in a good cause. But as I said, it did remind me that there are good causes to support which I haven't recently supported enough. So thanks for the calendar, even if I don't buy it.

I have seen all the pictures Martyn 94, one of which is a man. The Calendar is offering support to people who have/had cancer both those who have won or lost their battle. As has been said previously all the photos are tasteful and in no way pornographic, soft or hard. Go sit on Argeles beach in season and you would see far more of the bodily form. The only thing I find sad is that CSF and others have to produce a calendar to raise funds. I feel there should be more support from governments. Cancer touches everyone at some point in their lives whether it is yourself or a family member and doesn't distinguish between rich and poor.
