Retiring to France at 33

Wondered if any of you have read (and commented) on this piece of self-delusion.

Hi Jon

Not quite sure what, on that quite full page, you are referring to? Please advise.

I was going to ask the same question John but had already read the same post on Channel 66 Chat so knew what Johnathan was talking about. Look at the heading at the top of this posting then scroll down the link until you come to the story of the couple who retired at 33.

None of them have got kids but all seem to have mortgage free properties in London that they can let out for a lot of money.

The comments on the article sum it up. The problem with "retiring" when you are young, as anyone who's been out of work for a while will know, is that it's pretty difficult to get back into the workplace and if you've decided to kick back and chill out, it's difficult to get motivated to do anything seriously.

I think, as a few others have mentioned, that this is one of these "Media person pretends to kick rat race and follow dreams" when in fact it's all a carefully planned project to provide material for a TV show, book or the like.

Anyone remember Chateau Monty or Nippy and Nigel?

Ruby, you didn't exactly retire as you are still advertising as running a business!

I took early retirement over ten years ago (though not as early as them) and can't find the time to get bored :D
