Do I need a T V license in France if so how do I go about getting one ?

yes, if you OWN a TV set.
it is included in your local taxes unless you 'opt out'.

It's not included in the Tax Habitation, it's a separate tax bill that every house receives. We even get one for our gite, which has no TV aerial.

You have to pay tax hab even on the gites. You have to op out if you do not have a tv. Its a box on the form you return to the tax offices.

At some point in the year a form arrives which relates to the TV licence. If you have a TV you do nothing with the form and the licence fee will be charged at the same time as the taxe d'habitation. If you don't have a TV you have to opt out and complete the form to do so.

This year the form asked whether you had a licence for your main residence. Or did I read it wrongly ?

Our form just asked if we had TV in house, & was house a 2nd home & were we foreigners lol. We only started to receive the form about 4 years ago although we have had the house for 10 years & it now just gets added onto our tax habitation or tax foncier can't remember which one.
