BT Everywhere TV in France
Just to add to the mix:
Whilst researching changing our UK internet service provider I discovered that, according to BT Customer Options Department, the BT Everywhere app for PC & Mac (through internet browser - not Chrome) and on IOS and Android will ALL work in France (and possibly other countries) without VPN DNS etc. A BT subscription is however needed, but this includes all the BT premium channels.
