French TV options.

Post by Steve&Julie »

Hi
We would like to get French TV (in France).

We have an existing TV dish pointing at astra 2 (sky) and a UK Satellite digibox.
We also have have a French "Iotronic" "Terminal Numerique Satellite" box, a modern UK TV with built in digital 'freeview' and analogue tuners, and the usual selection of video inputs. We also have a 2nd analogue only TV fed from the digibox UHF output and a 'magic eye' device to change channels remotely.

We don't really need French TV on the second set but it would be a bonus.

It would be great not to have to run another cable up to the roof, but if that what it takes...

Fitting a second dish is not really practicable but there is enough room for a standard TV aerial on the top of the existing dish mounting pole to point in the same direction as most of the other aerials in the village.

Could anyone suggest which would be the best/easiest way of doing this?
Thanks.
Steve

I got a bit confused with the details of your set up but I think all you need is a TNT arial. You may need a TNT decoder too if your UK TV does not have they same decoding as the French system but they only cost sabout 20€

The French and British digital TV standards are compatible so all you need for the main set is a UHF aerial. Depending on the signal strength in your area it may have to be on the roof or you might get away with an indoor arial.

You will need a TNT decoder box for the second set.
