This article, if it's true, is a very positive step for the South of France wines.

Traditionally, imports of L-R wines into the UK have mainly been cheapo litre bottles of VdP for the supermarket and Pub trade, haven't they ?

But,as you've said before, wines from round here tend to be much better value for money, generally, compared to Bordeaux,Burgundy,Loire etc. With the economic situation, people are looking for better wines at cheaper prices,so I'm not at all surprised at this article. It does indeed represent a great opportunity for local producers to get a toe hold in the market. But they'll have to be spot on with their pricing. If they start taking the mick, then people are going to stick with the tried and trusted favourites from other French regions,Italy,Spain and the New World.

The sixth paragraph..("Rainfall is low") is somewhat ironic right now though.......
