An end to the pregnancy stickers on wine bottles?

Post by Santiago » Thu 21 Jun 2012 14:22

New report shows that low to moderate drinking during pregnancy has no detrimental effect on children.

I've long suspected this to be the case.

Alcohol during pregnancy

Post by Robert Ferrieux » Sat 23 Jun 2012 14:26

With due respect, whatever the wine lobby may say, it is a fact that alcohol in any form, like tobacco, is detrimental to the child's health, the embryo being deprived of a fully developed liver whose one function is to eliminate toxins. At a pinch the limit is no more than one or two units of alcohol, no more than once or twice a week, but it is highly recommended that pregnant women abstain altogether.

The new study carried out in the UK doesn't seem very reliable because it is based solely on what mothers say.
