Hi, When do shops like Intermarche in Argeles start opening on a Sunday? Last year they opened for about 4 hours on a Sunday 8 to 12 or 9 to 1.

Any thoughts?

Regards

I am not a Sunday shopper but am pretty certain that all the supermarkets open all year now for a few hours at least on a Sunday morning.

I think it's still just July and August when they open on a Sunday morning.

Looking on the website I think you are right so far as Argeles is connerned Helen. Intermarche at Pollestres opens on a Sunday morning as does Casino at Villneuve de la Raho.

Thanks

Thank you for your replies, that's what I thought. I was hoping that it would be the previous weekend.

Thanks Sue, I am back to Plan A!

Didn't fancy doing the big shop on the Monday.

I don't know if the Elne Intermarche will be opening too but if it is you may find it a lot less crowded and less expensive. I must admit I never use Intermarche unless I really have too. So overpriced. It's good old Lidl or Spain for me.

Does anyone know how Intermarche at St Andre and Pollestres seem to open ever Sunday morning throughout the year and do not seem to be prosecuted for breach of Sunday trading laws ?? I guess I must have missed something obvious

Sue,

Is the Intermarche in Elne really cheaper that Argeles? For the Big Shop we have shopped in both, in the Hyper Casino in Canet and the big Carrefour near Perpignan.

Smaller "shops" all done in St Cyp.

Less that 3 weeks to go :)

Lidl in Argeles is open every Sunday morning, has been for a couple of months it's on Avenue 8th mai. Also Fran Prix, formerly G20 on Avenue Grau at Centre Plage is open all day on Sunday all year round.

Intermarche Argeles is certainly more expensive on certain items. Also annoys me that the meat deals cease in the summer and meat packages are not only dearer but also pack sizes double or triple.

The Sunday trading laws were amended a while ago for food shops.
