We have had several rental properties and thus have needed to buy several beds, mattresses and bedding etc and have always found the best deals in Spain - and they will usually deliver free.

If you want to sleep on it yourself, rather than just-good-enough for tenants, IKEA has always worked for me. It is said that 10% of European children are conceived in IKEA beds: God knows if it is true, but if it is I have been letting the side down.

Excellent rapport qualité/prix. Nearest are Montpellier or Barcelona: as has been said, probably cheaper in Spain. I have recently bought 2 of these

More expensive than I have bought in the past, but excellent: firm but comfortable. An advantage for me is that it comes in 140 x 200 ( I am quite tall). If you want it to fit a 140 x 190 base, some of their other models come in that size.

Of course it was a bed, not a matreess, that was sought. If you buy the mattress I mentionned, you can complete it with this sommier

And you even get something off for being in their fan-club: shame I've already bought mine.
