Best restaurant in the world and one of the best singers

Post by Allan »

We have just got back from the Cap Roig Festival on the Costa Brava.

Superb organisation in a beautiful setting. El Celler de Can Roca, the Girona restaurant recently voted the best in the world opens a summer restaurant here. http://www.caproigfestival.com/en/celle ... 2-2-2-2-2/
We had a brilliant meal followed by a concert by the superb Katie Melua.

Can life get any better?

El Celler de Can Roca opens every year at the festival and presents a chance to try their renowned cuisine at affordable prices without the 11 month wait for a table.

I have no experience of Les Déferlantes at Argeles or the Carcasonne festival - are they arena based or are you just stood up in a field?

If anybody has been I would love to hear about it.

I can't talk for Carcasson but valmy is set in a natural bowl set in the gardens and trees , the further from the stage you are the more elevated.
There are seats if you wish set back infront of the main stage with standing room in front ,there are bars and food outlets around the outside and a wine bar set in the trees.

It has to be for me the best setting for an outdoor venue ive experienced.
Although its not witjout its faults . I.e. with the big names is attracting it is getting too busy on some nights.
Only one set of toilets , located at the furthest point .
And no m.c. introducing bands.
But long may it continue

Carcassonne has a variety of venues-some free in Place Gambetta etc in the Bastide- and some stunning openair ones in the Cite itself. Others are indoor in theatres and auditoria. Well worth checking out next summer.
