mastercard security code

Post by Moira »

Hi...my new mastercard needs a new security code for buying online. I've asked at my credit agricole who just tell me to contact mastercard direct. The ca-sudmed emailed and said it was tricky and to phone them...have tried , but the automated message just says hello and then au revoir!
Need to pay for certain things urgently...is anyone able to tell me the procedure...have spent hours on the net but with no luck for a french card,,,
Any suggestions greatfully accepted.
Many thanks

The security code is the 3 digit code on the back of the card. Sometimes there is another 4 digits before it (like on my Lloyds card) but my french visa just has the 3 at the end of the line where your signiture is.

If you mean the online verification thing then you set it up online. It is very quick.

Crédit Mutuel has basically been offering this full service since 2008:
Our first CLÉS PERSONNELLES cards were issued already in 2005!!
MESSAGE IMPORTANT
New part, since about 6 months, (reinforced protection for each individual customer/card) is:

The above is a little cumbersome, but absolutely "watertight"!!

"Magic" is applied science far in advance of our current technology.

mastercard security

I have been doing this for some time on the english account I retain at Lloyds TSB. There is quite straightforward though as the card secure code is the same as my online banking password. It doesnt seem to be so straightforward with Credit Agricole. Looking at it today there seems to be 3 steps, you go ahead and order the item/s completing the usual payment form then another form should pop up in which you put in your last 4 mobile phone digits (or if they are already there confirm they are correct) CA will then text you with the code for that transaction which you then insert and you should then get transaction completed form. There is also option on the second form on the second form to say you havent received tex for a number of different reasons!! It would seem that you have to go through this for all purchases from a secure site and not simply given one code!!

It seems that all the different banks are going to be operating a different system for security codes from now on,which is pretty confusing for those of us who have several accounts with several suppliers.

There is the Verified by Visa used by a few of the Visa Credit Card operators, but Nationwide have just started using a sort of plastic gizmo that looks like a calculator, that you have to put your card into ,and it generates a random security code that you need to tap in to your computer when buying stuff on line.

So far,BNPParibas only appear to be using the 3 digit code on the card as referred to by Santiago above.
