euromillions winnings

Post by sue and paul »

IF, just IF, one were to win a substantial amount on Euromillions, what is the tax situation in France? One would like to have enough left to treat all one's friends

If you're talking about the French Euromillions, it's tax free here in France.

The organization will normally give the winner an education, which will give them what to do with the winnings. You don't have to follow their thoughts but the winners seem to hold onto some money, instead fancy cars, etc..

The odds of winning was similar that a Silver Dollar was dropped from an airplane over Texas. That was pretty bad odds ~ then they changed to odds and your Silver Dollar will be dropped somewhere else. It will be somewhere within the US, including Alaska and Hawaii.

Dream on!

Thanks BD. Very helpful, but all I can say is.....

You gotta have a dream, if you don't have a dream,
How you gonna have a dream come true?

The thought of someone dinging my Aston Martin in the Carrefour car park puts me right off winning anyway.

Malcolm, you wouldn't go to Carrefour any longer; you'd upgrade to Casino!

When our children were growing up, I used to tell them that they would never know if I ever won any big money, because it would spoil their young lives. I'd just like the chance to change my mind before they retire!

OK, I can see that having loads of dosh would cause a bit of upset. Let's say I'll postpone winning for now.....

My feeling on a lotto win of several million is that it makes the rest of your life a bit pointless.

We can say that we would give it away to all those friends and relatives that are a bit needy but I'm not convinced that being given money that you haven't earned in any way makes your life any better.

You might well be right, but I wouldn't have minded having the opportunity to find out :)
