An absolute outrage,Edann. It's getting to the stage where it's probably better to get a Ryan cheapie back to the UK and do it at a passport office there?

I know someone that god his dad to send out the forms, then he filled them in, sent them back where they were then forwarded on, and the passport was sent back to that address. He then sent the passport out to his son.

If they didn't rip you off, people wouldn't bend the rules.

TBH,I don't really follow what "rule" you,or in Bee's mate's case ,he, would be breaking or bending.

Surely a passport is purely a document to say what nationality one is and that he or she should be allowed to travel under the auspices of that country without let or hindrance? It is not,and never has been, proof of address. Nowhere on your passport does your address appear.

So,assuming you've ticked all their "nationality" boxes, what address it is despatched to is of little consequence to the authority.

The rule is, as he understands it, that you aren't supposed to apply in the UK if you don't live there. IE if in France you have to go to the Paris embassy as edan did.

Logic never seems to enter these things does it.

When I renewed my passport last year, I was told I could get it via Paris (quicker but much more expensive) or via the passport office in Liverpool (cheaper but slower). I have no address in England and nobody asked me for one.
