Hotel in Barcelona?

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel in Barcelona centre for mid Oct for a group of 8 people for one night - they want to be in the centre of Barcelona in a nice area - they are a well heeled bunch d'un certain age..

Close to the Plaza Catalunya and the Ramblas, but not too close.

I saw a program non tf1 that talked about barcelona and I know many people who visit Barcelona from the Uk rent and apartment as it is cheaper and more convenient.

Some friends of mine stayed in the Hyatt on the Rambla - they said it was lovely, but I can't offer a personal recommendation, I'm afraid.

We've stayed twice in the Fira Palace Hotel http://www.fira-palace.com/ Right beside Monjuic, Magic Fountains and the Plaza de Espania, we got a very good B&B rate this year (compared to last year) for a 4 star hotel! Unfortunately the restaurant isn't great for an evening meal but we found a fab little traditional restaurant just down the road - sorry I cant remember the name
