Ryanair Cash Passport
As many of us know we are required to be vigilant to avoid Ryanair's booking fees. The latest hoop to jump through is that from 1 November 2011 you will need a Ryanair Cash Passport card to avoid the £6 each way booking fee.
You can apply for their new card on the Ryanair site but I am only going to use it for bookings retaining my Mastercard prepaid card for any other transactions.
The Cash Passport charges £2 for withdrawals from ATMs and £4 for cash over the counter. There is also a £2.50 inactivity fee if the card is not used for 6 months and a negative balance fee of £10.

But spare a thought for Paddy who had £15 left on his Cash Passport just before the six months was due to expire and slipped a disc badly trying to get his case out of the Ryanair guage. As he is laid up in hospital his mate Michael, instead of buying him grapes, docks £2.50 from his card each month as an "inactivity fee". After 6 months his loyal customer Paddy's £15 has been reduced to zero if he does not book on "the world' favourite airline" before then.

So Michael is even precluding his own countrymen?

You can use the Mastercard prepaid card until 31 October 2011 without incurring a UK booking fee but from 1 November 2011 the only card which doesn't attract a £6 each way UK booking fee will be the Ryanair Cash Passport card.admiral wrote:Hi thanks for posting the info, does the Mastercard prepaid card now (or in the future attract the credit card charge) when booking RY flights
It isn't clear to me whether this only applies to UK bookings.

Re: Are Irish booking affected or just UK
All I can find from Ryanair is this news release which refers specifically to UK bookings, so you could infer from that the rest of Europe is unaffected. Also, the drop down menu to apply for the Cash Passport on the Ryanair site only has United Kingdom on it at the moment.admiral wrote:Are Irish booking affected or just UK
