The Auto 5 franchise, also called Norauto sells extremely heavy and well-made electric bikes far cheaper than anyone else.See their website. Fun bikes at Ceret sold me a Kalkhoff which had a dodgy BionX power system and went back to them, but I am very impressed with my wife's folding Plimoa bike, w...

It's a pleasant enough place, but I think that St. Estève is almost identical and has better transport links to the pullulating vibrancy that is Perpignan.

The Japanese never put salt on their roads, so their cars, even the oldest, remain rust-free. They also, because public transport is excellent, use their cars only at weekends and on holidays. Also, a draconian law compels owners of older vehicles, no matter how well-maintained, to either pay a huge...

Expatriate voters' rights

Without wishing to seem excessively sententious, one of the principles of democracy, equally applicable to crumblies, is the notion of "no taxation without representation". We lost the American colonies through a high-handed failure to observe that rule. The French have Members of Parliament who rep...

I am still incensed about having no say in matters that concern me deeply. I pay income tax in the UK and am unable to vote. The Tories lied that they would restore that right then they recanted. Please go to this link if you share my indignation. https://www.gofundme.com/action-for-expat-votes?view...

Theres a dental clinic in Rosas run by a French dentist whose address is in St. Estève ! His tariffs seem a lot less onerous than the French ones. All of these Spanish, Hungarian and Polish dental clinics ask for a panoramic x-ray of your teeth before they will give you an estimate. You can get thi...

While on the subject of interesting Curés, look up the heroism of the Curé de Dorres and his involvement in saving the lives of so many escaping airmen and resistance fighters. The French being rudely anti-clerical, this man does not seem to get his due. As usual ( Greece, Spain, Italy, France ) r...
