Roger seemed indestructible, a very fine man, intelligent, kind, without an ounce of meanness.
May I add my condolences to his family.

Perpicat

We have used Perpicat several times and were always extremely pleased with them : we were always picked up at home and brought back at any time of the day or night. Once Helen's plane was late at Girona and Mr "Perpicat" waited for several hours at the airport, again in the middle of the night. On a...

Walter BENJAMIN in Port Bou

I once went to Portbou with a German Professor from the University of Freiburg. We visited the cemetery and the Walter Benjamin memorial. My guest knew everything about the philosopher, and he explained to me that the olive tree (a wretched tree, by the way), the entrance to the memorial and the pla...

I spent 11 months in La Pinède after two shoulder replacements, one of them having gone nastily septic (four major ops + 3 minor ones). As soon as I've bought ANY food (butter, flour, etc) I remove the wrapper & put the goods in a jar, fridge, or something . The wrappings have been in contact with heaven-knows-what (e.g. rat urine!). For tinned goods, so I give them a good wipe before putting them in the cupboard.

The recto has to be filled in and signed by both parties on the spot (otherwise the form is not valid). The verso, containing your version of the accident, may be filled in at home. The form must reach the insurance company not later that 5 days after the incident.
