If you go to your local Tresoir Publique with last year's Avis, they should be able to print one off and allow you to pay it there and then. The date limit IS 15th October. However, I seem to remember reading a report that 3.8 million people had reported that they had received no Avis by 30th Septem...

BBC iPlayer App. from Apple France

Anyone with an iPad or iPhone 4S or higher can download a free BBC App. from the Apple App. Store in France.
Unlimited access costs 7,99€ per month or 74,99€ per year.
This content can be streamed to your television using AppleTV.
This could provide another string to our bows if we lose satellite TV.

I wouldn't notice as I recently installed Hola which is just brilliant. I don't notice it's there and it's free. https://hola.org/ Malcolm, it would be interesting to know how you connect things up, e.g. what happens between your WiFi Router and your television. I think it's important for everyone ...

In Argeles we have channel 5 on our 100cm wall mounted dish and 80cm chimney mounted this morning. Sue, what satellite are you receiving from? The reason I ask is that we live not far from you (as the crow flies) and we have no C5. We are using, as far as the screen installation manager is concerne...

Will SES be conducting test broadcasts?

With all the posts going on concerning dish sizes/location/loss of FTA UKTV etc., I wondered something and I apologise if I'm way off the mark but............ Will SES, as part of the ramp-up to Astra 2E going operational, be conducting transmission tests? If they do, perhaps for the benefit of thei...

Forgive my ignorance but why does knowing what time of day things are changing make any difference to what will happen in 2 months? Surely in a couple of months we will have UK TV or not. We may a bigger dish or not be able to receive at all. We may get it online or in some areas due to speeds not....

Lift-off at 11:38pm tonight (CET) with separation following 9 hours and 12 minutes after lift off.
So at about 9am (CET) tomorrow, Monday 30th, we should all start thinking about the big question;
Will we or won't we? (lose FTA UKTV)

It's always been our experience that "Worldwide Travel Insurance" bundled with fee-paying UK banks accounts or with some cards is not the same as a directly purchased policy taken out with an established insurer. You will get asked questions and need to support your claim due to the number of people...

Re: Astra 2E Launch set for 29th. September

http://www.satlaunch.net/2013/09/kazakhstan-gives-green-light-for-proton.html looks like it may finally happen. I wrote (With a bit of luck it won't!) This WAS intended as a pun. Most people are making plans (IPTV etc.) but a lot will not and I fear there will be a lot of unhappy people IF, as we s...

Colin L, You seem to forget that some of us live here less than 6 months a year and live for more than 6 months back in the U.K. We pay a full BBC Licence Fee and they don't even want us to access iPlayer on our computers as we are identified as having a French IP address. Yes, I know there are ways...

Also in Argelès, strong signal but NO Channel 5, 5* or 5USA. With our 80cm dish and Universal LNB, if we select CH5, we get BBC Sport! Found Pick TV but 4Seven & Dave missing. Not really worried about these as BBC1,2,3,4/ITV1,2,3,4/C4/Film4,More4 and E4 are the most utilised. By the way, there has b...

Carrefour essence and diesel vs Esso/Total/Shell essence & diesel. It IS important, especially for diesel engines, because o...

Supermarket Fuels

Some time ago there was a big debate in the U.K. about the quality of supermarket petrol and diesel. It was felt that their lower prices reflected; 1 Bulk-Buying 2 Lack of additives (used in Brand fuels, especially diesel, for Lubricity) I wonder does anyone know whether or not the same applies in F...
