Moissac

Hi Karrie, I spent a very enjoyable day in Moissac a few years ago after watching Kenneth Clark's "Civilization" (again). If you like beautiful architecture the cloisters at Moissac are really worth seeing. The abbey itself is also very old and interesting. We had a super lunch in the sunny square i...

Dogs who frighten people

Thank you for the offer MountainGal, I might just do that - you'd be welcome. I'm not there until October, as I said earlier. Will you be around then?

Dogs who frighten people

Thank you MountainGal, What you say, and Tia, makes a lot of sense and I might give it a try when I'm next in Collioure later in the year, if my halting French will allow! Perhaps dog language is the same everywhere - a treat's a treat after all! On another plus side, we've had no complaints from gu...

Somewhere to leave luggage in Collioure

Hi,

Does anyone know if Collioure SNCF station has a left luggage room? I've been in the station several times and can't recall seeing one. Now I'm back in the UK and have been asked the question, and can't find any websites that help.

Thanks for that John, Unfortunately, or thankfully, depending on how you look at it, the fierce dogs aren't actually against our boundary but by a public walkway that leads to our villa and two others (unoccupied at present, as holiday homes often are). So the pathway isn't ours to erect more fencin...

Thanks for your advice also, Tia That may be worth a try and I might ask the owners' permission to give it a go; the dogs are pretty fierce though and I have spend a month or two trying to make friends. I've done a bit of dog training in the past and have tried all the gentle, oblique approaches wit...

Thanks Kate, I completely agree that a light touch is probably best, and I will try to explain our situation to the neighbours in case they'd consider tethering the dogs on long lines, but which don't quite reach the garden boundaries. Unfortunately, hot weather could make it worse as the hedging ar...

Dogs who frighten people

Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me a bit of advice. We have a small modern villa on a Residence in Collioure which we let out - first visitors expected in a few days time. A French couple who, we understand, are permanently renting a house behind ours have two dogs who seem quite bored and just love...

Thank you Kate for taking the trouble to contact the financial planner, and thanks also to John. Since posting my question I've had it confirmed elsewhere that it is indeed the case that the reduction in fees for purchasing a property that is under five years old has been taken away, and full fees a...

Change in French tax law

Hello and a Happy New Year to all, I've been told that a tax change has been implemented regarding buying a French property that is under 5 years old. Whereas this used to attract reduced Notaire's fees, apparently you now have to pay the full fees, regardless of the property's age. I've trawled thr...

Thank you Blackduff, Monsans and Nigel & Karen, for responding. I feel much more confident about bringing the dogs with me on the trip now I know where the nearest good vets are to be found.

Good vets in or near Collioure

Hi there, I'll be bringing my two beautiful labrador ladies to Collioure with me in October for a few weeks. First time!!! Sadly, one has a touch of arthritis and will require at least one monthly injection during the visit. Can anyone please recommend a good vet who might also speak a little Englis...
