As you have the option of choosing, I'd say definitely go for LHD - for safety (primarily better visibility) and for ease - tolls, car parks, etc Have to say, I don't quite understand your reference to being left-handed. Does that mean you prefer changing gear with your dominant hand? I'm not sure i...

Dimitri, thank you for such a full reply. To be honest I hadn't realised that there had been changes to controls for passengers flying to/from non-schengen countries until I read your reply - but since then, the British media has been carrying reports of horrific delays at passport control in a numb...

What's going wrong at Carcassonne airport?

I've used Carcassonne Airport a number of times now, am used to its quirks, and seen it change over time. But it worked. This latest trip - flying from Glasgow for a week, returning yesterday, was definitely not an airport which 'worked.' On arrival we had to wait some 20 minutes at least to be perm...

There was a change back in 2015 which means that people who are not tax resident in France can opt, on death, to have their French assets distributed according to the law of their primary residence. Videos - Port Vendres and Ceret

The L'independent today is featuring two short videos filmed from a drone. One is around Port Vendre, the other Ceret

For some reason I prefer the Port Vendres one, but see what you think.

Question about regional buses

I've been reading about the strikes affecting the CTPM buses in Perpignan - am I right in thinking that the regional buses (the 1 Euro ones) which travel across the departement, are operated by a separate entity and therefore not affected by the strike action in the city?

The original question was asked over 3 years ago. Hopefully CarolineN solved her gas problem and wasn't hanging on for an answer, but it does beg the question of how you found yourself commenting on the thread Martyn? Maybe some spammer found it in order to post some spurious link - but got deleted,...

I don't know much about French consumer protection rights so sorry, can't advise on how to go about recouping the money. Hopefully others can help you out there. Great news

Brilliant news. I remember fondly the convenience of the winter flights direct from Glasgow Prestwick to Girona a few years ago; whereas, next month, to get out to Amelie for a short trip, it's taking a total of 4 flights and a lot of hours. The flight times aren't available yet for this new route a...

For me one of the biggest differences between Facebook and a forum such as this, is the ability to locate specific information. There's a useful 'archive' quality to a forum which is much harder to achieve on FB. If, say, someone is searching for a recommendation re a trade, on the forum you can dri...

And it looks like the Avis was indeed sent out on the 25th. Mine arrived in Glasgow today and has already been 'paid' online - or, at least, sorted in so far as the payment will be triggered when it's due next month. Just a thought, what's the plural of 'avis'? Am thinking it's unchanged 'avis' - non?

It depends how much travelling she's prepared to do! There are several direct trains a day from Edinburgh (and Glasgow) to Manchester Airport, so one option would be to use Ryanair Friday flights to Carcassonne. It makes for a long day, but it's do-able. I came back that route recently. There are fl...

Probably too late for this discussion, but the Ryanair app is very straightforward to use. I've used it to check in for flights for some time now and it works well. There are a few airports which can't handle it, but I don't think that's the case for any French or British ones.

Guys, I'd be really grateful for any hotel recommendations with the following criteria. This is for a special occasion and probably falls in to money no object ( well, nearly.....)
