I've been researching away recently trying to get a feel for advantages/disadvantages of being tax resident in France and weighing up options. Came across this: http://www.french-property.com/guides/france/finance-taxation/taxation/wealth-tax#10.4 which seemed to be the best summary of wealth tax I ...

Thanks Roger, that's the one!

Don't know why I couldn't remember it - the signage is really obvious at the roundabout and I've seen the name every time I've driven past!

Julie, as you drive from Ceret heading up the Vallespir valley, there's a garden centre just off the first roundabout outside Ceret. Take the first right (between the car showroom and Lidls) and about 200 metres down that road there's a lane to the left which leads to a garden centre. Can't remember...

I flew back from Girona several weeks ago. Chatting with a woman next to me in the queue, she told me that they now prevented people from being able to weigh their luggage on vacant check-in desks. And sure enough, when the staff arrived to open up the check-in desk it looked as if they activated th...

Depends which ticket you buy.... but for the spurious dates I entered for June it was something like £195 return for one person. I think the absolute cheapest was about £55 one way but it was no longer available. Quite liked the look of a train which left St Pancras just before 9 a.m. and got into P...

Looks like the following is the overnight: 21h56 - PARIS AUSTERLITZ 07h18 - 07h18> PERPIGNAN 03731 2nd class Reservation required But you don't need to go overnight - there seemed to be two trains a day which took about 8 hours 30 from London to Perpignan, changing at Lille (This info from sncf)

Santiago, I know the principle of IP proxy but it's more than my job's worth to go into print on the 'how to'!! (I work alongside people whose job it is to make sure that geo-blocking actually works - primarily for rights reasons) The one thing I thought of exploring for my shoebox in Amelie was a s...

Carol, not all tv over the net requires windows media player or a real media player. The one I mentioned earlier uses a Flash player which can be played on Linux systems , as well as Macs, Windows PCs etc and I know of a number of other sites that have switched to using Flash for video. You can find...

hi Carol, more and more tv companies are making video content available over the internet - either streaming (you just watch it) or for download (it sits on your pc) . Some are windows specific but there's a recognition that people who use different operating systems shouldn't be excluded so there a...
