Re: Reminiscing...

FW was the nickname we gave to the tramontagne.
It used to drive Mr Polremy mad.

Re: Reminiscing...

This thread takes me back. I remember Roger, Blackduff and Outie (I think he held the record for being banned). It was rumoured that he was(is),your other half, Opas. In particular Serge and I had many a banter. I think that was the time of the dreaded FW too. Getting "homesick" now. Haven't been ba...

I remember being told that if it was good enough to be understood by a "sympathetic Frenchman" then it was good enough for a GCSE pass.

Buying a car

When we first started driving through France for our holidays we trained our children. Every time we set off, from a petrol station, a lunch break or a hotel in the morning, they all had to shout in unison "drive on the right!" Very annoying but it worked and probably saved embarrassment or worse qu...

Le Soler

We never actually stayed in Le Soler but often used to visit the lake there. The children loved it. Picnic area and small on site snack bar. Mind you, that was years ago and it might have changed.

When we changed from UK to Frech number plates we got the new ones in Perps, just opposite the offices where we took the paperwork. Just behind the Castille. Go through the Castille facing the old town. In an alleyway just on the right, between a restaurant and a shop.

Santander

I'd like a definite answer to this.
It would be great for us as we spend a lot of time in Tenerife.
However, I'm pretty sure you have been misinformed and that the two Santanders (UK and Spain) are completely independent of each other.

I used to have my state pension paid directly to Banque Pop in euros when we lived in France. No complaints about the rate. I now have it paid directly (in euros) to our bank in Tenerife since we spend winters there. I quite like the frisson of excitement that comes with not knowing if it will be mo...

If you mean drive it back permanently then there are all sorts of hoops you need to jump through. This proved an expensive nightmare for us a couple of years ago.
If it's just for a holiday then all you need do is check with your insurers in France first.
