Hi Helen! Thank you so much for your lovely message; it means a lot to me. I had a visit from the Mayor of Taurinya this morning as I emailed him to tell him my plans last night. Bernard came round to see me as he thought that was nicer than just emailing a response. He said the most lovely things a...

Moving Back to the UK

I have decided to sell up and move back to the UK as soon as it's feasible to do so. I will return to Dorset where we used to live; this is also from where Pete runs his sound recording business. I have thought long and hard about this decision, but the house and garden here in Taurinya are too big ...

I have been part of Facebook for many years and I have had no problems at all and, since my husband Dave Mulkeen's untimely passing on 25th June, I have had so much love and support from Facebook friends worldwide, and members of this forum too, and also one of the other ex-pat forums. I have had ma...

Thank you all so very much for your beautiful messages. I simply cannot imagine my life without Dave (half of me has gone) but I will be staying here in Taurinya which he loved so much and where we have been made part of the magical family that is this village. It is too early to make longterm decis...

Roger

I've been worried about Roger since I discovered he'd be diagnosed with an aggressive cancer and am so very sorry to hear he's died. As Dave says he was extremely kind and, in our own personal experience, really supportive when we found cancer in our lives a year ago. My heart goes out to his family...

Hi Roger! Rob (Morley) came to see us this afternoon and he mentioned this thread (which I'd somehow managed to miss) so I just wanted you to know that we're all rooting for you in Taurinya. The prognosis does sound excellent and we're delighted about that. Dave was there earlier this year, as you k...

I'd heard this before about Avon Skin So Soft, but then promptly forgot all about it!
I've had a few really nasty bites this summer so I'm well up for giving this a go. In fact I've just ordered a batch from Amazon.
If our troops wear it, then that's a good enough recommendation for me!

We can recommend John White of Taurinya. He's built a beautiful patio, steps and decorative walls for us; he's also working on an eco-build in Prades currently. I cannot recommend him strongly enough. He's honest, hard-working and his rates are extremely competitive. If you're interested, let me kno...

Just back from Villa Verde at Rivesaultes as it's close to Perpignan airport and we had to go there this afternoon.
That's pretty close to you and they do have a wide variety of plants, including those of the bedding variety. Sounds a bit racy, but you know what I mean!

Karrie,

I contacted Roger and Chris Hicks today and they've received no communication about artificial lawns. They would be happy to hear from you and help if they can. I know you've found someone in the meantime, but I thought you'd like to know.

Artificial lawns

I'm surprised you didn't hear back from Roger as he's not the sort of person to ignore an approach. However I happen to know he was out of the country for a month which may explain the delay.

As Michael (Paddy Frog) says, Roger Hicks is the man to approach. He's the ultimate professional and, if he doesn't 'do' artifical lawns, he probably knows someone who does! He and his wife, Chris, are the most excellent folk and we're delighted with the work Roger's done for us. I also feel extreme...

Sav,

Looking good, my man!

And, yes, Rachel and Jon's hopsitality is second to none as is their wine. We're planning a day out there again with friends from Glasgow this spring.

Allez Domaine Treloar! Your wine is ace and, if I'm not mistaken, award-winning. Wish I had such a wonderful vineyard, your skill with grapes and the ability to produce beautiful wine like Three Peaks (as I suspect do others on this forum, even if they'd go to their graves without admitting that!). ...

There's also John White in Taurinya (Tel: 09 61 36 79 31 or 06 28 64 13 87). Yep, can't disagree. Rob Morley's the man as far as we're concerned and worth waiting for if he's busy which is surely a good sign in itself.
