Re: Perpignan and Carcassonne airports.

Hi Ted and Jemima I don' doubt it. But as many can and will drive, and there is a causal cycle between flight availability and flights taken, I just wondered whether there was something deeper. My own opinion is that there are too many airports in this region and to have one coastal one plus one int...

Re: Perpignan and Carcassonne airports.

Hi Dmitri We were sat in Carcassone airport the other day and wondered why Carcassone has more flights than Perpignan? My fundamentalist approach suggested that Carcassone attracts from 360 degrees and a wide catchment. Whereas Perpignan has sea to one side and Spain on another. Any other clues? p.s...

Update.
It has got livelier.
The Indian restaurant has improved IMHO.
The Casino is a nice place for a Cocktail etc. without gambling. Nice ''club' atmosphere. Weird opening hours.
I will try the food at next visit.

Long Term Rentals

Hi I am looking for a source of advice on the pros/cons/legalities of long term rentals . Tourists or locals. I have searched, here and elsewhere, but not found it - unusually for us. We have a property in Vernet les Bains that is big enough to live in. 92.5 sqm plus terraces plus Cave and Garage, i...

We use it in Spring/Summer and if somebody was enterprising enough to do day trips for skiing then the winter would have more attractions.

I wonder about any real 'joined up' thinking by the powers that be. CO2 pollution is massively contributed to by cows farting and ships and lorries moving stuff around the world. NOX emissions are most deadly in Cities by a date in the near future most cars will be electric or hybrids. etc So the sh...

Allan, if we had a 'Hostile' environment towards large scale tax underpayers then perhaps we wouldn't need to be so austere and have to create a 'challenging;' environment for NHS workers and customers, DWP clients.... The truth is that the Home Office civil servants responded to the tenor of the po...

Rudd resigned because she lied/was mistaken about the targets and misled the House. The underlying scandal is that the culture had been dialled up to 'Hostile' and the civil servants stopped using their heads about their role and responded to the targets not the actual law.

I noticed that the board itself is free software, and the supplier offers free updates, so I suppose that the cost of 1000 euros is to pay somebody to do the update. Although I know that every change causes problems but I would have thought that is a viable student (college level not Uni level) proj...

Thanks all. I was guilty of expecting a period wherein the original date could be preserved, as in the UK.

However if we lose a month out of 24 for our own convenience so be it.

Renewing Controlle Technique

Hi Sorry for this as I usually try and solve things with my own searching. I need to renew my CT before 2nd Jun, I think as that is what the sticker on the windscreen says. However I cannot find explicit instructions as to 'how long before?' . It is truly a holiday car ( and I may have been too hone...

As in everything in French Law there may be other clauses more advantageous to your circumstances. The specific one quoted by Martyn favours French locals and may have been subsequently challenged.

Alas. Conventional advice to seek out an accountant is not foolproof in such issues. It all depends..

Je Voudrais

Hi
Is the phrase 'Je Voudrais ' commonly used when ordering in a café / restaurant?
I don't even say 'I would like' in the UK as the context makes it obvious and the server has already asked something akin to 'what would you like ?'.

Hi Dimitri Sorry to hear that EMA - Carcassone traffic has fallen. Rhys you may well be correct but I was describing the potential market. A Jet 2 service to Perpignan (or a Flybe) would be good competition to Ryanair (Birmingham) and would serve a very large market. However the problem we all really have is that there are too many French airports. That is convenie...
