Talking about scams, we had yet another phone call from some altruistic guy at EDF wanting to help us save some money. He offered to come the following day to examine our elecricity bills & tell us how to economise on energy. This is the 3rd or maybe 4th time we've been offered this..er... service ....

A real beauty!

My friend found and nursed back to health an abandoned female white cat. According to the vet she's about 5 years old. She's VERY affectionate and clean, and needs a forever home where she'd be loved and helped to forget her unhappy past. pm or phone 09 54 57 62 93 (French or English). Thank you on ...

Hamyat - WHERE do you find Seville oranges? You can't find them on the market. I've got an excellent recipe (a lot of work but results are unforgettable - pm or email: hfx1@free.fr) but haven't been able to obtain suitable fruit these last few years. Neighbours with orange trees wouldn't give you t...

There's a big difference between porn and eroticism. Porn can be a woman's leery face sucking a Magnum (ice - not gun!) The most erotic scene in a film I've ever seen shows a couple, married for 10 years and deeply in love. All you see is the wife's nightie slipping off her shoulder and her hair bei...

A lady living in a flat in Perpignan is unable to keep her 12 year old cat. It's a male and he's been neutered. He's all black & quite small, and of course used to living in a flat. The local animal shelters are overpopulated, what with people dumping their unwanted pets...On top of that, they think...

Always amazes me that you can't buy plasters, paracetamol and basic medicaments in French supermarkets too. Of course you can get plasters in supermarkets...condoms too, essential oils and even cosmetic coloured contact lenses.(I bought violet ones!) Paracetamol being a medicine is rightly sold onl...

Easy-peasy. For I kilo ripe apricots I use only half a kilo sugar, altho' the recipe says I kilo sugar for I kilo fruit - far too sweet IMO. Ok - so start by cutting up the fruit, retrieve the nuts from the kernals and fling them in with the fruit and the sugar in a heavy pan. Leave overnight. Next ...

Cats and dogs

I don't quite understand what Liberty, Equality and Fraternity have to do with it all. We're supposed to be endowed with the faculty of reasoning and to behave according to moral values. Cats, as far as I know, haven't yet reached that stage, although in many ways they're far cleverer than we are. I...

[quote="Gus Morris" I'm not a vegetarian. I'll eat beef, pork, lamb, chicken, all kinds of fish. Even cheval if I get the chance. And that involves killing animals. One can perfectly well be a carnivore and at the same time despise the gratuitous torture of animals for entertainment. I totally agree...

I won't even try to debate the rights or wrongs of it but I do think that the thousands of people that make a living from the industry and its associated tourism might think their interests are more important than those of the animals. Of course these people who make a living out of brutal cruelty ...

Bull-fighting is a manifestation of unnecessary cruelty inflicted on an animal for the "entertainment" of drunken yobs, misinformed tourists and those whose barbaric, perverted sensitivities are of the very basest...

Daphne, I've seen them in the larger supermarkets: Casino in Canet and Carrefour in Cabestany. Possibly in Casino on the Ave Mercader in Perpignan as well. The white choc buttons are also available.
