Re: Climbing the Canigou - any recommendations?

Check before you go, there´s been a rock fall earlier this month which has blocked one of the routes. I also heard a rumor that someone´s been going round changing the route direction signs.

There´s a limit on distance for towing and you can´t use a rope, has to be a bar. The trailer would be the best.

We got ours from the Vinci boutique near Rivesaltes. You can get to it from the motorway or the main road. I see you can get them now which goes right down to Portugal. vinci-autoroutes.com/fr

Re: Funeral advice please

We've been to several, both cremations and church services (been here a long time) During the church service we filed past the coffin in the church, just put a hand on it to pay respects. After the service close family are at the door, shake hands, give condolences. There may be a condolence book to ...

Post brexit you will only be allowed to stay for 90 days in any 180 days. For a carte de séjour you need to be fiscally resident. You will also need proof of income and health insurance.

Re: Car in France

We've bought various vehicles in France, privately and through dealerships but never been asked for proof of residence. Keep the grey card on you when driving, but don't leave it in the car. The grey card must have the owners name on it.

Our initial application 20+ yrs ago required translations of birth & marriage certificates, which we re-presented in August, along with the usual other stuff - tax returns, electricity bills, 5 yrs of each. I found all the info and request forms on the préfecture Perpignan site. They also required ...

We have employed people with a cheque d'emploi. It's an easy system to use, but you have to pay minimum wage plus holiday allowance. You will also have to pay about 50% of that for contributions to security social. You're supplied with the "cheques" which you fill out and return. They work out how m...

I've only got as far as printing out the forms. But I think you need proof of income, fiche de paie, UK pension, tax form and some sort of proof of time resident here. Better to take too much than too little as it will be rejected.
